Google plans to invest at least €13 billion in Finnish digital infrastructure during 2027 and 2028, its largest single investment in Europe. The program includes data centers and supporting infrastructure in Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala. Google says the facilities will support AI services including Gemini and will be paired with clean-energy and grid projects.
The package includes a 22-year power-purchase agreement supporting a life extension for Fortum's Loviisa nuclear plant, 629 MW of new onshore wind capacity and a contracted 94 MW battery system. Google estimates the construction phase will support more than 37,000 jobs nationwide, while the operating footprint will support about 7,000 jobs annually.
OpenAI deepens Samsung ties around next-generation AI chips
OpenAI says it is working with Samsung Electronics on next-generation AI chips as it develops its own silicon program. OpenAI Korea chief Harrison Kim described cooperation spanning chip research, advanced-memory supply and enterprise deployment. Samsung is also one of OpenAI's largest corporate customers: the companies announced a broad ChatGPT and Codex rollout to Samsung employees alongside their expanding infrastructure relationship.

The financing, reported by both Reuters and Bloomberg, nearly doubles the company's prior $26 billion valuation and arrives as competition among coding agents remains unusually well funded. Harvey lands $550 million to build more of its legal AI stack
