Code Testing Extensions

This skill provides access to language-specific guidance files used by the code-testing pipeline. Call this skill to get the file paths, then read the relevant file for your target language.

Available Extension Files

FileLanguageContents
extensions/dotnet.md.NET (C#/F#/VB)Build commands, test commands, project reference validation, common CS error codes, MSTest template
extensions/python.mdPythonFramework-adaptive test commands (pytest, custom runners), project layout detection, mocking guidelines, common errors
extensions/typescript.mdTypeScript/JavaScriptBuild/test commands (Jest/Vitest/Mocha), framework detection, mocking, TS-specific considerations
extensions/powershell.mdPowerShellTest commands (Pester v5), module import patterns, discovery/run pitfalls, mocking, common errors
extensions/cpp.mdC++Testing internals with friend declarations
extensions/go.mdGogo test commands, table-driven tests, integration vs unit layout, mocking via interfaces, common errors
extensions/java.mdJavaMaven/Gradle commands, JUnit 4/5 and TestNG detection, Mockito, Spring Boot slices, common errors
extensions/rust.mdRustcargo test commands, unit vs integration vs doc tests, features, async test harnesses, common errors
extensions/ruby.mdRubyRSpec and Minitest commands, Bundler usage, Rails specifics, mocking patterns, common errors
extensions/swift.mdSwiftSPM and Xcode test commands, XCTest vs Swift Testing, @testable import, async/throws tests, common errors
extensions/kotlin.mdKotlinGradle commands, JUnit/Kotest detection, MockK, coroutines test, KMP and Android specifics, common errors
extensions/dotnet-examples.md.NET (C#/F#/VB)Concrete pipeline examples: sample research output, plan, generated tests, fix cycles, final report
extensions/python-examples.mdPythonConcrete pipeline examples (pytest): research, plan, generated test file, fix cycles, final report
extensions/typescript-examples.mdTypeScript/JavaScriptConcrete pipeline examples (Vitest, applicable to Jest): research, plan, generated test file, fix cycles, final report
extensions/go-examples.mdGoConcrete pipeline examples (standard testing): research, plan, table-driven test file, fix cycles, final report
extensions/java-examples.mdJavaConcrete pipeline examples (JUnit 5 + Mockito on Maven): research, plan, generated test file, fix cycles, final report

Usage

Read the appropriate extension file for the target language before writing test code. When an <language>-examples.md file exists for the target language, read it alongside the base extension to see a concrete end-to-end pipeline walkthrough (research output, plan, generated tests, fix cycles, final report).

collect-user-input

Build forms, validate data, and react to user input in Blazor. USE FOR adding forms, search boxes, filter panels, inline editing, data-entry UI, file uploads, validation (annotations or custom), handling form submissions, and binding input controls. Covers EditForm, built-in input components, DataAnnotationsValidator, custom validation, SSR form patterns (SupplyParameterFromForm, FormName, AntiforgeryToken, Enhance), and @bind for simple interactive controls. DO NOT USE for project scaffolding (see create-blazor-project) or prerendering issues (see support-prerendering).

dotnet-webapi

Guides creation and modification of ASP.NET Core Web API endpoints with correct HTTP semantics, OpenAPI metadata, and error handling. USE FOR: adding new API endpoints (controllers or minimal APIs), wiring up OpenAPI/Swagger, creating .http test files, setting up global error handling middleware. DO NOT USE FOR: general C coding style, EF Core data access or query optimization (use optimizing-ef-core-queries), frontend/Blazor work, gRPC services, or SignalR hubs.

test-anti-patterns

Audit a test file or suite; produce a severity-ranked diagnostic report. ALWAYS USE for tests that verify nothing, missing/tautological assertions, swallowed/broad exceptions, flaky/order-dependent tests, duplication, or magic values. Polyglot. DO NOT USE for direct edits: writing-mstest-tests owns supplied MSTest assertions/attributes/lifecycle; code-testing-agent owns new tests. Exclude running tests, migration, assertion metrics (assertion-quality), raw .NET coverage collection (run-tests), non-.NET coverage collection/analysis (native tooling), project-wide .NET coverage/CRAP (coverage-analysis), named-target .NET CRAP (crap-score), behavioral/pseudo-mutation gaps (test-gap-analysis), test-mix/ happy-vs-error classification and trait distributions (test-tagging), or the testsmells.org catalog (test-smell-detection).

binlog-failure-analysis

Analyze MSBuild binary logs to diagnose build failures. USE FOR: build errors that are unclear from console output, diagnosing cascading failures across multi-project builds, tracing MSBuild target execution order, and generally any MSBuild build issues. Requires an existing .binlog file. DO NOT USE FOR: generating binlogs (use binlog-generation), non-MSBuild build systems.
