Beat Sync

Workflow

  1. Identify BPM and duration.
  2. Mark downbeats and major accents.
  3. Divide the track into sections: intro, build, drop, break, outro.
  4. Assign visual intensity to each section.
  5. Place major visual events on meaningful beats.
  6. Use off-beat micro-events only when they improve groove.

Beat hierarchy

  • Major beat → scene change / major reveal
  • Secondary beat → object movement
  • Subdivision → text stagger / small accent
  • Phrase change → composition or camera change

Do not

Do not cut on every beat automatically. Music needs breathing room.

Visual energy

Low energy: slow movement, large negative space.

Medium energy: staggered elements, moderate camera movement.

High energy: faster cuts, stronger scale changes, denser transitions.

Validation

Watch once with audio only, once muted, then together. The visuals must still have intentional rhythm when the audio is removed.
